Sunday Bible Classes

Our children’s Bible classes are a vital part of our church. Nurturing children in God’s Word and Christ’s salvation will impact them for life. Our Bible classes teach children the Bible, help children memorize the Children and Westminster Shorter Catechism, and encourage friendships. We provide these classes:

  • Class One (Ages 2-3) Welcome to Sunday School, students! In this class, our little people (with big minds!) listen to Bible stories from Bible Stories For Children, a book by Geoffrey Horn and Arthur Cavanaugh. This text “offers a selection of the most important stories of the Bible; these have been chosen and recreated for both their narrative power and their contribution to a basic understanding of what we believe and why we live as we do.” The teachers use engaging methods, such as storytelling, singing, short activities, and applicable colouring pages to appropriately supplement each lesson.
  • Class 2 (Ages 4-5) In this class, students receive lessons on significant Bible stories from Genesis to Malachi, covering all of the Old Testament. The lessons are taken directly from The Gospel Project for Kids, Volumes 1 – 6, which is a “Christ-centered Bible study resource that looks at the big picture of God’s story—the story of redemption through Christ Jesus.”
  • Class 3 (Ages 6-7) In this class, students receive lessons on significant Bible stories from Matthew to Revelations, covering all of the New Testament. The lessons are taken directly from The Gospel Project for Kids, Volumes 7 – 12. The material taught in this class continues exactly where the material in Class Two ends, thus providing the students with the full metanarrative of scripture.
  • Class 4 (Ages 8-11) Now that students have learned the whole story of Scripture, they will receive lessons on how to think critically and engage with the world through a biblical worldview. The lessons are taken directly from Foundation Worldview, which is a curriculum that “lays the foundation for seeking truth in all aspects of life, with the goal of helping little ones see that everything we find in the world around us aligns with the worldview presented in Scripture.” Specifically, the lessons come from Foundation Worldview’s series, “Studying the Bible” and “Comparative Worldview.” Each student is provided with a duotang that includes activity sheets that accompany every lesson; these sheets are completed as a class, with the teacher as the guide.
  • Class 5 (Ages 12 – 16) In this pre-confession class, students deepen their understanding of biblical doctrine, focusing on topics such as Creation, the Fall, God’s Providence, the Trinity, God’s Covenant with Man, Free Will, Justification and Sanctification, Repentance, the Law, etc. Faith ARP produced the curriculum for this class, using the Westminster Larger Catechism and the Heidelberg Catechism as a foundation.
